A true human and technological adventure for nearly 100 year, the SAFT company (part of TOTAL Group) is specialized in the aim of optimizing energy performance on land, at sea, in the air and even beyond, in space.

Since 2018, SAFT has been leading a European alliance to develop the Solid-state Battery Program (SSBP), aiming to bring a safer, more powerful and with a lower cost generation of batteries. Well underway, this project needs more Mechanical R&D Engineers who are passionate about working on developing the technology of tomorrow.


We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical R&D Technician to support our Solid State Program in Bordeaux, France. This position will report to the Mechanical Group Leader. In this frame, you will be in charge of defining the needs to ensure the smooth running and management of the mechanical prototyping phases of the batteries. You will manage the stages of the project from a technical point of view, and provide support to the purchasing department.


Main duties:


• Translate user(s) need into functionalities and technical specifications
• Realize and develop mock-ups and prototypes
• Analyze and respond to specifications
• Drawing 2D prints and 3D models as a support
• Be able to work alone or as a team and report on his activity
• Learn new methods and procedures
• Be able to share experiences and practice


Required profile:


✓ You have a Mechanical/Materials Science or related fields bachelor’s degree or equivalent
✓ You have 5 years of work experience in mechanical engineering (conception and/or validation tests) on similar positions
✓ You are a regular user of SOLIDWORKS or CATIA
✓ You have a hands-on experience and a good understanding of battery cell manufacturing and testing


In addition to your technical skills, you have analytical skills, adaptability to change and to anticipate, as well as a strong sense of organization. You are inventive, take initiatives, and enjoy working independently while maintaining a team spirit.


Due to the international environment of the project, travels are to be expected and English proficiency is essential.
