Since 2018, SAFT has been leading a European alliance to develop the Solid-state Battery Program (SSBP), aiming to bring a safer, more powerful and with a lower cost generation of batteries. Well underway, this project needs more Mechanical R&D Engineers who are passionate about working on developing the technology of tomorrow.


We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Chemistry R&D Engineer to support our Solid State Program in Bordeaux, France. This position will report to the Chemistry Group Leader. In this frame, you will be in charge of the studies regarding the cell design activities for solid state batteries.


Main duties:


- Choice of the materials through upstream collaboration with material suppliers
- Design of the electrodes
- Processes to manufacture electrodes at lab scale and for scale up
- Cell building at lab scale and cell testing
- Data analysis and summary for internal milestones
- Collaboration with potential partners for solid state activities


Required Profile:


✓ You have a PhD degree in Electrochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
✓ You have a hands-on experience and good understanding of cell designs and electrochemistry of Li-ion cells and/or Li solid-state batteries.
✓ You have a work experience on battery cell manufacturing and testing, and a good knowledge of inorganic or organic electrolyte synthesis and processing.
✓ Ideally, you have a work experience (industry/academic) related to the development of solid-state battery materials
✓ To finish, you have a good understanding on material properties, interface problematics faced in solid state battery is a strong plus.


In addition to your technical skills, you have analytical skills, adaptability to change and to anticipate, as well as a strong sense of organization. You are inventive, take initiatives, and enjoy working independently while maintaining a team spirit.


Due to the international environment of the project, travels are to be expected and English proficiency is essential.
