Industrialization Module Assembly Engineer H/F

The world leader in the design and production of high-tech batteries, Saft (4300 employees worldwide, including 1450 in France spread over 4 sites), has been part of the Total group since 2016. Saft works with a network of global partners and their batteries power equipment in a wide range of sectors, from aerospace and rail to energy and electronics.

Since 2018, Saft has been leading a European alliance to develop the solid-state battery of the future, which means a significant investment in R&D. Well underway, this project needs more Industrialization Module Assembly Engineers who are passionate about working on developing the technology of tomorrow.

To support their growth and development, Saft is recruiting Industrialization Module Assembly Engineers, based in Nersac (16) near Angoulême or in Bordeaux (33).

Taking part of the Industrialization Team for new programs at SAFT (for manufacturing new Lithium cells, from mixing to module assembly, and including Solid-State technology), you will be in charge of the "Module Assembly" part, which consists in assembling/connecting cells in a metallic raft and ensuring that all End of Line tests match with module characteristics and customer requirements.

Your main missions will consist in:

  • Collecting the Design & Customer requirements and agree on all checking tests and criteria to be put in place (insulation test, internal resistance, ...)
  • In case of several designs of modules to be manufactured, finding the best way to standardize the Module Assembly, or add Flexibility as much as possible
  • Writing the technical specifications accordingly
  • Identifying any potential risks and thinking about how derisking is possible with suppliers
  • Challenging suppliers to optimize the lay out and making the process as automatic as possible
  • Making suppliers comparison, based on the Total Cost Ownership (CAPEX, OPEX, surface, Overall Equipment Efficiency, maintenance costs, quantity of operators...) and on their lead-time to check if relevant with the project schedule
  • Defining and organizing Acceptance tests
  • Following the progress of Equipment design, Equipment manufacturing, Equipment set up with the following targets: Safety, Cost, Lead-time and Quality.

In parallel of these tasks, you will need to keep aware about the competitors’ practices and make benchmark for new cell /module designs.

Required profile:
With a Bachelor of Sciences in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or a related field), you have at least 8 years of experience working within the automated environment for automotive, and/or general manufacturers and distributors.

You have already worked on AutoCAD and Sketchup.
You are used to work with Agile methods (Obeya, SCRUMB...)

You have a strong appetence for the study of new processes.

In addition to your technical skills, you also demonstrate an excellent problem solving, analytical skills and adaptability to change, good anticipation skills, a high sense of organization and customer/supplier service, a spirit of initiative and a results-oriented approach. Also, you have good spoken and written skills (capacity of being concise and clear)

Due to the international environment of the project, travels are to be expected (once or twice a month; Europe and Asia) and English proficiency is essential.
