ABUSE MODELING ENGINEER

The world leader in the design and production of high-tech batteries, Saft (4300 employees worldwide, including 1450 in France spread over 4 sites), has been part of the Total group since 2016. Saft works with a network of global partners and their batteries power equipment in a wide range of sectors, from aerospace and rail to energy and electronics.

 

Since 2018, Saft has been leading a European alliance to develop the solid-state battery of the future, which means a significant investment in R&D. Well underway, this project needs more Abuse Modeling Engineers who are passionate about working on developing the technology of tomorrow.

Batteries play a crucial role in the energy transition; that’s why Saft aims to develop new environmentally friendly solutions and to reduce their carbon footprint.

 

To support their growth and development, Saft is recruiting Abuse Modeling Engineers, based in Nersac (16) near Angoulême or in Bordeaux (33).

 

The transversal activity will support chemistry and mechanical teams.

Your main missions will be to:

·        Model behavior of cells and modules under abusive conditions using Computer Aided Engineering tools, like Star CCM+ from Siemens

·        Treat scale-up of tests at reduce level to whole module

·        Treat toxicity and fire risks related to battery thermal runaway.

·        Develop external relationship and collaboration in the field of battery and fire safety modeling

·        Present results of your studies internally and to customers

·        Manage your simulation environment

·        Support design of dedicated experimental set-up and exploit results from abuse tests.

 

Required profile:

With a master’s or Doctorate degree of Sciences in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or a related field), you have at least 5 years of experience working within CFD simulation, and knowledge of thermic and fire simulation.

You have already worked on AutoCAD and Sketchup.

 

You have a strong appetence for the study of new processes.

 

In addition to your technical skills, you demonstrate a high sense of adaptability, organization and customer/supplier service (results-oriented approach), decision-making skills, a good strategic vision and sense of communication.

 

Due to the international environment of the project, travels are to be expected (once or twice a month; Europe and Asia) and English proficiency is essential.
